#anchorwords - LAUGH

Sometimes, when the going gets tough, we lose sight of our happiness and our laughter is silenced. In theses dark moments, we forget that something as simple as laughing can enough to turn things around. We need to learn to laugh at ourselves, and recognize the humor in our mistakes and our lives.

I first pondered this thought when I was away at a conference with thousands of other teachers. Although I didn't really know anyone at the conference, I was able to connect with a few teachers over drinks. I quickly realized that it had been far too long since I spent time with 'friends' and found myself laughing uncontrollably about something mundane. After spending a little time with like-minded professionals talking, laughing and eating, I felt recharged and more passionate about teaching that I had in months! Laughter really is amazing medicine!

"A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength. "  Proverbs 17:22

Laughter is even part of what makes a Godly woman! See, even God thinks laughing is essential. I love this from Proverbs 31:25-26:

"She is clothed in strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness."

This verse also makes me think about how laughing helps to make me a well rounded woman in all areas of my life - teacher, mother, wife, writer... I am strong, fearless, wise and kind...

Make a little time to laugh today... find humor, connect with friends and laugh boldly!

I'd love to hear about your thoughts on this week's #anchorword....
